Project:
Train ASIC employees in the importance of proper records management, and the importance of proper valuations of files. The ASIC has, understandably, a large number of paper files that they use on a day to day basis. This training module was designed to increase awareness of how the mismanagement of files not only affects the smooth running of the ASIC, but can have legal ramifications for the ASIC and the individuals involved.
Our Brief:
- build an awareness module with a friendly, colourful interface, something that’s fun. Records Management is not really the most interesting training material in the world. The best way to engage employees is to make them deal with the impacts of improper records management - court cases, the most common mistakes, the security problems which arise from mistakes in valuing files.
- allow employees to determine themselves whether they want to have their performance tracked by the system - if employees are not comfortable with the module tracking the progress in the system, they can choose at the beginning to turn this function off. Even if employees choose to have their performance tracked, it remains confidential.
- use human elements as much as possible- we want to teach how people are affected by records handling. Use interviews with employees, if possible, to show how proper and improper records management affects employee’s jobs.
- what is a "day in the life" of a file?- show employees what happens to files in a day, a week, a month, a year.
- installation- install on standalone machines or on the corporate training network.
Interesting Bits:
- our favourite part - Amber - we liked working with her so much, we hired her!
- the 10 Most Common Mistakes in Records Management - this is a bit of a game show - a lot of fun…
- graphical interface - Michael (our graphics guy, at the time) built a wonderful training interface - based upon a paper look, very soft, very colourful, very professional.
