At the ElNet Industry Evening we heard industry professionals speak about the latest developments in e-learning.
The August ElNet Industry Evening featured Dallas Woolley, Manager of e-Learning Strategy And Systems for Queensland Rail (QR). The presentation was live in Brisbane and web cast to Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Christchurch and online. Dallas discussed the implementation of e-learning over the past three and a half years at QR and the work that has enabled e-learning to become a high quality, valuable product and service for QR's training and development business.
Dallas provided an update on QR's current strategic focus and goals including a system upgrade, the integration of Performance Management, portal integration/communities, commercial opportunities, and the results of a recent pilot of online IT desktop training that was conducted with 100 employees.
A local case study was also presented following the web cast in both Sydney and Melbourne. In Sydney, Arndria Seymour, Manager Learning & Development at Allianz, discussed the importance of designing an e-learning strategy fit for purpose. Arndria discussed Allianz's initial implementation of an e-learning platform to provide a solution for a specific agenda, then went on to describe how and why e-learning grew to have a global role in the organisation.
Meanwhile, in Melbourne, Wendy Palmer, Relationship Manager for Learning Infrastructure & Reporting at ANZ, presented a case study on the issues surrounding outsourcing e-learning development. In particular, Wendy focused on how ANZ has put in place e-learning development standards and guidelines for outsourced e-learning providers to ensure consistency of experience for learners.
